For the past few months it’s been difficult to ignore the buzz around Lupita Nyong’o. Since landing the role of Patsey in 12 years a Slave, her face has been literally EVERYWHERE! What’s refreshing about her sudden appearance into the mainstream,  is that she represents a kind of everyday accessibility, the face that could be a friend, acquaintance or relative, the faces that we’ve known all our lives, yet are so rarely seen on screen.  I know the subject of black women in the media is an ongoing debate, i’m not about to start that one up.
